John Lemke is a Glasgow based artist, originally from Berlin.

Working across a great variety of media he has spent the last years exploring music and all things sonic through collaborations, live performance, film sound design and especially his work as a documentary film composer.

Motivated by fusing elements of his more emotive film composition approach with rhythm and space, John has created a distinctive sound world on his forthcoming debut solo album, where abstracted guitar landscapes collide with percussive, prepared piano and disembodied vocal textures to form a danceable, electro-acoustic whole.

Traveller is such an amazing track. It reminds me of stuffy old crime movies from the the early to mid 1900s.

It reminds me of 2001: A space Odyssey, so I decided to use a little bit from the script to showcase it. I still don’t have a name for it though.

I made this as part of a sample on my MFA in Multidisciplinary Design. It’s just showing off a font from my first time using FontStruct.

Observing Type is also mine, so if you’re into typography you should check it out and follow me.

I’ve seen a lot of this in the media lately and a lot of it on tumblr too.

Sometimes it honestly does feel like we’re being made to feel quilty about being white, like it’s some genetic advantage, is that not a bit racist in itself? Does the term “White Privilege” not sound racist too? although based on the shit I’ve heard lately, it’s probably not possible to be racist towards white people.

I could talk about this all day, but I have difficulty articulating it in a written format that I’m happy sharing.

Anyways, I think this article is fucking brilliant read and it does show how incredibly stupid, naive and short sighted some people and media organisations are (although I do believe their actions are good at heart, well, people more-so than media organisations). It reminds me of the white guy teaching black history in How High.
